Festival Ex Nihilo

Festival Ex Nihilo, organized by Soundarte.net, returns for its sixth edition in 2025. This year, the festival introduces a cultural exchange program and a documentary that captures the collaborative efforts and creative processes of participating artists. The festival will feature live performances, workshops, and exhibitions, promoting diverse artistic expressions and dialogues.

Key figures like Omaha-based artists Sener and Alex Jacobsen will lead the production, fostering cross-cultural dialogues with local artists in Guanajuato. Events will be held at notable venues in Omaha, such as Benson Teatre, Petshop Gallery Stage and Project Project, as well as art galleries, concer halls & museums in Guanajuato City, Mexico.

Festival Ex Nihilo is committed to radical accessibility, offering live performances, interactive workshops, and online streaming of selected events. The festival is scheduled for April in Mexico and the summer in Omaha, with a documentary release planned for 2025.

About the Artist

Sener is a sound artist, art researcher, and producer. Originally from Silao, México, now resides in Omaha, Nebraska, and has dedicated over a decade to exploring post-digital art.

In 2022, Sener established an art studio in the Benson Creative District, within the Petshop Gallery community. Surrounded by fellow artists, performers, art & culture explorers, collaborating in diverse music and artistic projects. Sener’s research began in 2013, deep diving into México’s electroacoustic music & sound art scene, studying open-source technologies, and digital-analog experimentation. He has created custom electronic instruments with microcontrollers and modules, and audiovisual installations blended with contemporary media.

Through collaborations with artists in Mexico and the United States, Sener curates presentations, sound art sessions, festivals, and concerts, nurturing an international & diverse artistic landscape. Founder of SOUNDARTE.NET, a pioneering post-digital art network, and co-founder of EACRECMX, an experimental music netlabel. Inspired by extended perception, immersive experiences, and the convergence of ancient traditions and modern technology, Sener’s work reflects his roots. He explores concepts such as transdigitalism, posthumanism, and the transformative power of sound on consciousness. His research covers experimental music, ambient soundscapes, sound art, immersive installations, digital equity, tech justice, and sound as a healing tool.
