2020 Season

Blood at the Root

On Stage

Feb 28–Mar 08, 2020

This February, The Union for Contemporary Art in partnership with UNO Theatre presents Blood at the Root, for a run of four shows at the University of Nebraska – Omaha, followed by six shows at The Union.

Based on true events, Blood at the Root, by Dominique Morisseau, recounts the story of the Jena Six—a group of Black students who were initially charged with attempted murder for a school fight after being provoked with nooses hanging from a tree on campus. Join us for a theatrical conversation about justice, racial double standards, and a crisis in relations between men and women of all classes.

Please be advised: Due to the intimate size of The Union's theater, and out of respect to both the actors and other theatre patrons, ticket-holders must be in their seat promptly at the showtime listed. No late seating will be allowed. If there is a wait list, any seats that have not been claimed at curtain time will be released.

UNO Theatre season tickets are not transferable to Union performances.

The Union will honor the UNO free student ticket policy as space allows.

*** The Union believes that money should not be a barrier to arts participation. With this in mind, our Performing Arts Program follows the “radical hospitality” ticketing model set forth by Mixed Blood Theater in Minneapolis:

In addition to $20 General Admission tickets available for advance sale, cost-free Radical Hospitality tickets are available on a first come/first served basis. You may claim up to two tickets per person at the front desk or at the door after 12pm day of show. (Please note the front desk is not open on Sunday and tickets will only be available at the door.) Seating begins 30 minutes before showtime.

Those who prefer guaranteed admission may purchase tickets in advance either online at the link below or by phone (402-933-3161). Advanced tickets are $20 per person.
