Now Hiring: Youth & Visitor Service Coordinator

The Union for Contemporary Art is seeking a dynamic, community-minded individual to join our team as the Youth & Visitor Service Coordinator. This hybrid role is designed to be the "heartbeat" of our organization. As an ambassador and liaison between The Union and the public, you will ensure a deeply welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for everyone who enters our doors.

This position perfectly balances community-centered hospitality with specialized youth programming support, providing the essential operational foundation needed for our Youth Studios and general facility to thrive.

Core Responsibilities

Hospitality & Visitor Experience (35%)

  • Provide a warm, proactive, and inclusive welcome to all visitors, from neighbors to artists.

  • Serve as the primary point of information for facility directions, program details, and organizational policies.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of The Union’s history and mission to engage the community during tours and daily interactions.

  • Manage check-in processes for Co-Op Studio passholders and youth program participants.

Youth Studio Facilitation & Management (35%)

  • Lead youth studio set-up and clean-up for core programs, workshops, and events.

  • Facilitate student learning, growth, and play through positive interactions and active supervision.

  • Provide robust support during flagship programs, summer camps, field trips, and parent engagement events.

  • Ensure youth studios are maintained to the highest standards of safety and creativity.

  • Operational & Administrative Support (20%)

  • Data & Sales: Track visitor data, process ticket sales, manage facility bookings, and handle merchandise transactions (using Google Drive, SimpleTix, Skedda, and Square).

  • Youth Admin: Support the Youth and Outreach Manager with data organization and documentation of programming.

Facility Stewardship & Safety (10%)

  • Execute daily opening/closing procedures and monitor security to ensure a safe environment for all guests.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience: 1–2 years in visitor services, hospitality, youth development, or art education. Experience in a gallery, museum, or non-profit environment is highly preferred.

  • Digital Proficiency: Competency in Google Workspace, SimpleTix, Skedda, and Square; ability to manage multiple platforms and maintain organized data.

  • Interpersonal Excellence: Ability to engage authentically with a wide range of personalities and backgrounds.

  • Commitment to Inclusion: A demonstrated desire to dismantle barriers to entry and make the arts accessible to everyone.

  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license and proof of adequate liability insurance for personal vehicle.

Compensation, Benefits & Schedule

  • Salary: $40,000 starting annual salary.

  • Schedule: This role requires a consistent schedule that includes Saturdays and evening shifts.

  • Physical Demands: Ability to remain stationary (seated or standing) for up to 50% of the workday and move frequently throughout the facility (gallery, theater, and studios).
