Annual Appeal

2024 was a year of growth and change atThe Union. We said goodbye to our beloved founder, Brigitte McQueen, and warmly welcomed Lakesha Green as our new Executive Director. We completed the Kali Baker Studio—a 1,000-square-foot live/work space within The Union’s main facility—which housed the first two Studio 24 Resident artists. We brought Moondance back and kicked off our community engagement project, Voices & Vision. As we look back at our 13th year of service to Omaha’s cultural community, we are endlessly grateful for the ongoing investment of friends like you!

A Creative Home for Artists

The Union for Contemporary Art is a creative home for artists at all levels, from professional ceramicists and internationally recognized painters to local youth shadow puppeteers.

In 2024, 166 Passholders made art in our Co-Op Studios, and we held 44 Co-Op workshops; in total, 2,037 community members had a chance to learn new skills and practice their craft at The Union. We hosted FOUR exhibitions and brought FIVE new Fellows into our studios to create and collaborate. Youth and families engaged with our programs 1,112 times across 104 events and activities. And, through our Abundance Garden & local partners, we distributed 6,034 lbs of food through our Free Produce Stand.
